This
spectacular cable car that takes you from just outside Tivoli
to the peak of the Calamorro Mountain, rising up 724 metres,
where the panorama is spectacular, with views on a clear day
as far as the Rock of Gibraltar and the Coast of Morocco.
This is one of the best-known new attractions on the coast
- not because of the number of people who have made the trip
- but due to its route, which soars above one of the busiest
sections of the main highway linking Málaga to the
Costa del Sol´s major sun-kissed resorts. The views
are stunning as the ride carries passengers to the summit
of the looming Calamorro mountain.
At
the top of the mountain there is a bar, small souvenir shop
and several different hiking trails that vary in their level
of difficulty. The footpaths are excellent and well sign-posted.
There is plenty of camera-clicking scenery and the air is
scented with the smell of wild herbs, such as thyme and rosemary.
The telecabin ride is certainly one of the best ways to explore
the stunning and little known back country of the Costa del
Sol.
The
highest point above sea level is at 724 metres - roughly twice
as high as the Eiffel Tower and two-and-a-half times the Empire
State Building. Your trip to the top is 2,646 metres at an
average speed of 4 metres per second, taking a total of 12
minutes. Each cabin can hold four people.
